Growing Up
Offstage: Rehab at Fourteen
At fourteen, I’m usually the youngest person at the rehab clinic. Between electrical stimulation and heat packs, I’m learning to slow down and care for the knees, calves, and feet that carry me through Irish dance.

When the Curtain Fell, the Journey Continued
After countless rehearsals, I finally performed with my dance group on the stage of the National Taichung Theater. Before the show, I was still afraid of making mistakes, but as the music began, I slowly let go of my nervousness and started to enjoy the dance. During the final curtain call, the audience’s applause reminded me of every rehearsal, every difficult step, and the 150 posters we had handed out to promote the performance. This was more than a successful show. It showed me how much I had grown—from a child who always hid in the corner into a dancer brave enough to stand at the center of the stage.

150 Posters, One First Step.
To promote our Irish dance performance and encourage more people to buy tickets, my younger brother and I brought 150 posters to hand out near the National Taichung Theater. At first, I was so afraid of rejection that I could not even give out the first poster. After trying again and again, I slowly became more confident. This experience showed me how much I had grown, from being afraid to express myself to speaking to strangers and performing on stage with confidence.
